About Our Executive Director

James Wynn is a seasoned executive with over two decades of leadership experience in the nonprofit sector, championing transformative initiatives that uplift underserved communities
and drive sustainable impact. Known for his ability to build strategic partnerships, secure critical funding, and lead organizations to achieve operational excellence, James is a visionary leader committed to fostering equity and opportunity.

Hired in June 2024 to serve as Executive Director of Camden County OEO, James takes over the helm from Arnold Byrd who served in the role for 56 years. As Executive Director, James oversees the organization’s programs, human resources, and financial operations while spearheading efforts to enhance service delivery for low-income families. Under his guidance, CCCOEO has experienced organizational growth, strengthened donor relationships, and expanded its capacity to meet the community’s evolving needs.

Previously, as the Executive Director of Joseph’s House of Camden, James led a pivotal transformation that resulted in a significant increase in permanent housing placements and a
reduction in the average length of stay for residents. He also secured over $800,000 in funding through corporate and foundation partnerships, including gifts from The Subaru Foundation, Connelly Foundation, and Jon Bon Jovi Foundation, while successfully closing a capital campaign to expand the organization’s facilities.

During his tenure at Volunteers of America (VOA), James demonstrated his fundraising acumen by increasing private donations by over 400%. As Vice President of Development, he oversaw major campaigns that raised millions for housing, veterans’ services, and other critical programs. His strategic leadership resulted in increased board giving, expanded volunteer engagement, and innovative partnerships with organizations such as Fannie Mae, Under Armour, and TD Bank. These efforts not only supported mission-driven projects but also
enhanced operational efficiencies and created long-term sustainability.

James’s career reflects a deep commitment to social justice and community impact. He has been instrumental in designing and implementing initiatives ranging from workforce development and affordable housing to advocacy for underserved populations. He is particularly skilled in leveraging data-driven strategies to achieve measurable outcomes, securing multi-faceted funding streams, and building organizational resilience in the face of challenges.

Beyond his professional roles, James furthers his commitment to social impact through his leadership of The Ree Wynn Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for patients with rare blood disorders, including Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (TTP). As
President and Co-Founder, he drives the foundation’s mission to enhance medical treatments, provide patient support, and advocate for a cure. His work has expanded the foundation’s reach locally, nationally, and internationally, creating vital resources for a historically underserved
patient population.

James is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) and has a robust educational foundation in human services and nonprofit management. He is also deeply involved with professional organizations, serving on fundraising and diversity committees to advance the nonprofit sector’s
capacity to serve diverse communities effectively.

With a steadfast dedication to equity, innovation, and empowerment, James Wynn continues to lead with purpose, inspire transformative change, and build a legacy of sustainable impact in every community he serves.
